US-based health monitoring systems provider Ambio Health has received 510(k) clearance in the US for its Ambio Remote Health Monitoring System, a wireless tool that allows patients to take the readings on high blood-pressure, heart disease and diabetes at home.

The device was introduced in 2013. It offers exact readings, which can be read by family members, or caregivers through web-based Ambio Care Portal.

Ambio Health CEO Kevin Jones said that the company’s goal is to enable individuals to take health readings at home and get connected to health care providers, who may not be able to visit every day.

"The Ambio dashboard provides a comprehensive, yet straight-forward, overview of glucose control, and can be personalised to meet the needs of individual patients and providers."

These readings would allow physicians to check the health of patients regularly, study the health pattern and then prescribe required changes in order to keep the condition under control.

This device comes equipped with the capability of setting individualised alerts and notifications of exception conditions.

It also enables reminders for readings and medications to be sent via telephone call, text message or email to patients.
