Masimo to support the pulse oximetry needs of more than 200 Advocate sites of care across Chicago

Masimo, the inventor of Pulse CO-Oximetry and Measure-Through Motion and Low-Perfusion pulse oximetry, has reported that Advocate Health Care has renewed its multi-year, system-wide contract for Masimo SET pulse oximetry technology. As a result, Masimo is expected to continue to support the pulse oximetry needs of more than 200 Advocate sites of care across Chicago.

Masimo’s technology allows hospitals and other care sites to leverage the Measure-Through Motion and Low-Perfusion benefits of SET pulse oximetry, along with the noninvasive blood constituent monitoring capabilities of its Rainbow SET Pulse CO-Oximetry.

The company claims that Masimo Rainbow SET is the technology platform capable of continuously and noninvasively measuring multiple blood constituents that previously required invasive procedures, including total hemoglobin, oxygen content, carboxyhemoglobin, methemoglobin, and PVI, in addition to oxyhemoglobin, pulse rate, and perfusion index.

The company has added that the ability to immediately detect and treat potentially life-threatening conditions without having to draw blood and wait for the results, enables earlier and better clinical decisions that may help save lives and improve patient outcomes.

Paul Hoffmann, chairman of respiratory care council at Advocate Health Care, said: “Advocate Health Care’s healing mission calls us to work with partners that share our commitment to our patients’ health and safety. We are very satisfied with the features and functionality of the Masimo pulse oximetry technology, and we are pleased to continue our relationship with Masimo.”
