Tegaderm IV Advanced Securement Dressing is a FDA Class I stabilization device, which utilises an adhesive backing to keep the hub flat and securely anchored to the skin reducing the risk of catheter dislodgement.

The dressing includes two adhesives that allow for added securement and stabilisation, while providing a sterile barrier to external contaminants including liquids, bacteria and viruses, common causes of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

Additionally, the Tegaderm dressing offers moisture management that preserves skin integrity on moist skin or in warm environments during wear.

The dressing also features a special coating allowing for the removal of the stabilization tape strips to access the catheter hub without removing the dressing.

3M Health Care said that the new dressing is perceived by clinicians to reduce catheter manipulation and resist staining which could lead to less frequent dressing changes, and may provide a cost savings option for hospitals.

3M Skin & Wound Care division president Paul Keel said that through the addition of Tegaderm IV advanced securement dressing to their portfolio of innovative skin and wound solutions, they continue to bring clinicians products that are simple, trusted and clinically effective.
