Ascendx Spine, a developer of orthopedic devices, has appointed Romano Ferrari as the company's chairman.

His appointment follows the company’s CE marking approval for its Ascendx VCF Repair System and its Ascendx Acu-Cut Vertebral Augmentation System which are used to treat vertebral compression fractures (VCF).

Ferrari served as a president at Paris- based Healthcare Industry Consultants since 2009.

He served as president of Medtronic AVE Europe; vice president/Europe for Baxter Healthcare; global vice president of Marketing & Sales for Sorin Group; and president of Critical Care for Ohmeda.

Ascendx Spine CEO Julian Mackenzie said Romano Ferrari is an internationally experienced businessman with a track record in positions of executive management in the medtech industry.

"He has a proven record of achievements in companies ranging from venture capital-backed start-ups to blue chip multinationals, including solid direct experience in M&A transactions," Mackenzie said.
