Medicare has granted Pricing, Data Analysis, and Coding (PDAC) approval to Devon Medical Products' extriCARE 2400 negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) pump and its accessories.

The portable extriCARE 2400 system is designed for the management of chronic, acute, traumatic, subacute and dehisced wounds, partial-thickness burns, diabetic and pressure ulcers, flaps as well as grafts.

The extriCARE pump’s accessories include extriCARE exudates collection canister (A7000) which connects either of extriCARE’s small oval, large oval, foot, heel and sacral bandages (A6550) via tubing for healing wound.

Devon Medical Products president John Bennett said the approval will allow patients, caregivers, and wound care professionals to experience the healing and treatment benefits the extriCARE NPWT system provides.

"Our portable device and anatomically fitted bandages were developed after countless conversations with wound care experts seeking an NPWT option that increased mobility for patients and decreased application time for caregivers," Bennett added.

"We look forward to offering this option in the marketplace at a cost-effective price point so as many patients as possible can be healed with this proven form of wound care treatment."
