The Singapore Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, has reported that government is improving healthcare system to meet the growing population. Generally the older patients were admitted at the hospital more frequently. Once their acute condition has stabilized, they do not require intensive treatment and they would not be well enough to go home as well. To meet these healthcare needs, the government is putting in more resources.

According to Lee Hsien Loong, the resources may include new hospitals in old government-built-house towns, and increasing the government health budget.

Lee has reported that Singapore requires to set up step-down care, such as community hospitals, nursing homes, general practitioners, home care, and linking up acute hospitals with community hospitals.
