Hologic has introduced ThinPrep 5000 sample transfer system (STS) and Cervista medium throughput automation (MTA) system in Berlin.

The ThinPrep 5000 system automates the bar code scanning of the vial and transfer the sample.

The Cervista MTA system automates the HPV detection and DNA extraction steps of the Cervista Human Papillomavirus (HPV)HR test.

When both the systems are combined they have the ability to process 24, 48 or 96 ThinPrep samples/batch at a time providing small-to-mid-sized laboratories to have a scalable, fully-automated solution for HPV testing.

Hologic Molecular Diagnostics vice president and general manager Rohan Hastie said these products are designed to provide the small and medium volume laboratory access to the cervical cancer screening technology available, while allowing them to address their specific productivity and throughput needs.
