Arbel Medical Ltd announced that it will be completing the study of IceSense probe by September 2010.

IceSense probe is a minimally invasive cryotherapy probe designed to be used for the removal of benign tumors. It employs liquid nitrogen for the removal of tumors in surgical procedures. The probe can be used for the removal of both benign and malignant tumors. It is a less invasive alternative for tumor excision.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the Ice-Sense is safe and effective in the treatment of benign breast tumors such as fibroadenoma. The 30 patient study is currently recruiting participants. The official title of the study is “Evaluation of Safety and Feasibility of the ICE-SENSE, a Cryotherapy Device for Office-Based Ultrasound-Guided Treatment of Breast Fibroadenoma”.
