American Medical Systems Holdings, Inc announced that it will be completing the study of Continuum by May 2010.

Continuum is an anastomosis device employed in prostate cancer surgery. It allows surgeons to more easily and accurately complete the difficult anastomosis between the bladder and urethra following radical prostatectomy.

The objective of the study is to assess the safety of using the CONTINUUM device by monitoring the side effects and complications associated with the device following a radical prostatectomy and to verify CONTINUUM device performance using updated CONTINUUM device design modifications, physician procedure guide and training methodology.

This 43 patient study is ongoing, but not recruiting participants. The official title of the trial is “Performance Evaluation of the AMS CONTINUUM Device in Facilitating Vesico-Urethral Anastomosis Following a Radical Prostatectomy”.
